30 Day Memoirs: The Tale of a Picture #8

My kids moved to a new school when we moved up to Iowa. It is much smaller than their previous school. The classrooms are smaller and the activities are limited compared to the larger school district. I was excited when I found out they were doing something called the Harvest Bazzar. It is a yearly fundraiser for the school. We did games, a cakewalk, ate, and the kids all sang What a Wonderful World. It was adorable. The kids had a great time and so did I!

Want Haves

Christmas is just around the corner. I have been reading a lot of blogs and see everyone is working on their Christmas lists. Just last week I sat down and had the kids write their notes to Santa. Secretly I was crying inside as I watched the dollar signs add up. The most wonderful time of year! I don’t usually make a Christmas list myself. However this year I decided to make a list. Except it is not a Christmas list. It is a must want haves list.

1. Loreal Studio Secrets Smoky Eye Shade. Not sure if I want brown, black, or blue. Maybe I will take all three!

2. Anything purple for decor in my bedroom.

3. A sewing machine.

4. A new desk for my office.

5. Mariah Carey’s new perfume. Oh my goodness it smells so good!

6. A new dining set to seat at least 10.

7. A car. haha

8. A new digital camcorder.

9. A pedicure every month for a lifetime.

10. And last but not least, gift cards galore! Who doesn’t right?

What’s on your list?

Reading Hy Vee seasons Volume 4 Issue 5

Thanksgiving is coming fast! Are you ready? I know I am! I always look forward to getting my Hy Vee Season book in the mail. It always has loads of information on the latest season with great gift ideas, decorations, and recipes. I received the Fall 2010 Seasons Book, Volume 4- Issue recently and found easy recipes that are to die for! And I got it right in time for the holiday. On page 23, Hy Vee shares quick side dishes and desert. I found Festive Green Beans that look so yummy and really easy to make.

What’s your plan for Thanksgiving? Will you be cooking a big meal? Want some great ideas? I suggest you grab up a Hy Vee Seasons Book. They don’t cost a dime and have lots of helpful ideas.

Want to try out the Festive Green Beans like me? Here’s how to do it!

Saute fresh or high-quality frozen green beans in a little olive oil until crisp tender. The oil will make the vegetables glisten. Transfer the beans to a serving dish and top them with chopped pecans and dried cranberries. And Walla! A yummy, easy to make, decorative side dish. Enjoy!
